The oxyfuel cutting process is a burning process. This means that the material in the cut is oxidized with pure oxygen, with the aid of propane or acetylene. At the cutting end the temperature will get up to 1500 °C. One of the few metals that can be cut with the oxyfuel process is unalloyed and alloyed steel.
